Thomas A. McDonnell Founding Partner. Solicitor.

Tom founded McDonnell Solicitors LLP in 2013 having worked as an assistant solicitor for 15 years with Leo F. Branigan & Co Solicitors, Longford. He qualified as a Solicitor in Ireland in 2001.

Tom is a general practice solicitor and practices in all areas of law. Tom has extensive experience in Conveyancing (both residential and commercial property), Probate, Wills, Trusts & Estate Planning and all types of litigation/court work. He has a Diploma in Commercial Conveyancing. Tom has acted for a number of property developers over the course of the last 15 years and has encountered and dealt with many complex property transactions, including trusts, large mixed use estate developments and complex banking/finance arrangements, in that time.

Tom also deals with the firms District Court practice and Family Law. He has a particular interest in road traffic law and has been involved in some high profile cases.

Tom has an interest in all types of sport. He is a member of his local GAA club. He enjoys reading and travel.

Nicola McDonnell Managing Partner. Solicitor. AITI Chartered Tax Adviser

Nicola joined the practice of McDonnell Solicitors LLP as a partner in 2014. Nicola qualified as a Solicitor in Ireland in 2001. She is an AITI Chartered Tax Adviser. She holds a Diploma in Commercial Conveyancing.

Nicola did her apprenticeship with Leo F. Branigan & Co. Solicitors in Longford and remained on in the practice as an assistant solicitor for 6 years. She worked in Mullingar for Kelly Caulfield Shaw Solicitors and Nooney & Dowdall Solicitors before moving back to Longford to work with F.J Gearty & Co. Solicitors for 8 years.

Nicola’s practice areas include Civil Litigation (Personal Injury & all claim types), Probate Litigation, Probate, Wills, Trusts & Estate Planning, Taxation specialising in Capital Taxes (Gift & Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Stamp Duty), Conveyancing (Residential & Commercial) and Employment Law.

Nicola has a particular interest in Litigation/Court Work which currently forms a large part of her work. She is also very involved in the Probate, Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning area of the practice and related taxes. She has a strong background in Conveyancing, both residential and commercial. Nicola deals with employment law and completed an Extra Mural Course in Employment Litigation in Trinity College Dublin.

Nicola enjoys running and many other sports, guitar, reading and travel.

Lisa McGlynn Office Administrator

Lisa joined the practice in February 2017. She has a degree in Business Studies and has gained experience and worked in a number of different sectors and organisations since leaving College. She is a very capable Office Administrator and a valued member of our team.
